Gen Z is ready to throw out the rulebook when it comes to generating wealth. Financial ambition doesn’t have to look like the tried-and-true path from Ivy League school to a Wall Street banking job. In fact, many are skeptical of the traditional 9-to-5 office job and believe “income stacking” might be the best way to achieve financial freedom.
More members of Gen Z, born from 1997 to 2012, want to be their own boss with a side hustle or two for good measure. Two-thirds have reportedly said they find it essential to have multiple sources of income to achieve financial stability. That makes sense, given the jobless rate among 20- to 24-year-olds is double the rate for those over 25, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.
