Zohran Mamdani delivers a victory speech after former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo conceded to him in the Democratic primary for New York City mayor. The 33-year-old Queens lawmaker racked up commanding leads across Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan in the first round of ranked-choice voting. But the result isn’t official yet. Under this system, a candidate is declared the winner after receiving more than 50% of the votes. The next rounds of tallying votes are scheduled for July 1.
