China Accuses US of Violating Deal, Pro-Trump Candidate Wins Poland Vote | Bloomberg The Pulse 06/02

China accused the US of violating their recent trade deal and vowed to take measures to defend its interests, dimming the prospect of an immediate leadership call that Donald Trump wants to have to further bilateral talks.
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce issued a statement on Monday rebuking the US president’s claim that Beijing breached the consensus reached in Geneva last month. The dust-up threatened to upend trade relations even as Trump expressed hope Friday he will speak with Chinese President Xi Jinping, with White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett expecting a call to take place this week. In Europe, a nationalist candidate backed by Trump secured victory in Poland’s presidential election, defeating the centrist mayor of Warsaw in a contest that could stymie the government’s efforts to shift the nation back into the European Union mainstream. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk must now navigate an increasingly polarized political landscape after the right-wing Law & Justice party maintained its grip on the presidency.

Today’s guests: Shai Weiss, Virgin Atlantic CEO; Omotunde Lawal, Barings EMEA Corporate Credit Head; Jens Eisenschmidt, Morgan Stanley Chief Europe Economist; Tim Clark, Emirates President.
