The Gates Foundation will double its spending and sunset operations in 2045. Its chair, Bill Gates, says the foundation is going to spend more than $200 billion over the next 20 years. The Gates Foundation has given away more than $100 billion during its first 25 years. In an interview with Bloomberg’s Francine Lacqua, Gates says he’d been thinking about the decision for several years, and that it wasn’t made in response to US government funding cuts. He also discussed the impact of decisions made by the Department of Government Efficiency, as well as the uncertainty caused by President Donald Trump’s tariffs.
