Stocks (^GSPC, ^IXIC, ^DJI) rebounded in Tuesday’s session after a tech sell-off and wider concerns on Big Tech overconfidence were triggered by Chinese artificial intelligence startup DeepSeek’s new AI model on Monday.
Laffer Tengler Investments CEO and CIO Nancy Tengler sits down in-studio with Market Domination Overtime hosts Josh Lipton and Julie Hyman to emphasize that while AI technologies like DeepSeek have potential, there are still uncertainties surrounding the timing of its release and the reported spending behind it.
"I mean, I think the technology is awesome, potentially, but I don’t think the costs or the timing of it are accurate. In other words, how little time it took to develop, I think we have to wait," she believes.
Tengler remains skeptical about immediate widespread adoption of DeepSeek’s AI technology: "You’re not going to see Fortune 500 companies embracing DeepSeek, but you might see retail customers and there’s a whole host of problems with that. If we’re worried about TikTok, maybe we should be worried about the security of DeepSeek on our phones."
