The Department of Energy’s Loan Programs Office has been very active under President Biden, growing tenfold thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act and doling out financing for emissions-reducing companies and projects. But the agency’s influence could be severely diminished under President-elect Donald Trump’s second term in office, leaving companies that have applied for loans rushing to get them out the door ahead of the Inauguration.
