Citi’s Global TMT Conference is currently underway in New York City, with some of the industry’s top CEOs in attendance. During the event, Yahoo Finance Executive Editor Brian Sozzi sat down with Dell Technologies (DELL) CEO Michael Dell to discuss the company’s outlook on AI and its integration across Dell’s operations. Dell began by highlighting the integration of artificial intelligence, telling Yahoo Finance that "anything that you want to do with your PC is gonna be enhanced with AI." He explains that this AI integration is aimed at boosting productivity, with the technology using data stored on users’ computers to formulate messages, highlight important information, and overall enhance the user experience. "Ultimately, what organizations are seeing is this is a historic opportunity to make their businesses way more productive and efficient while at the same time reimagining them given all this capability," Dell told Yahoo Finance, noting that this is driving more customers to the Dell brand. While Dell believes the AI boom is still in its early stages, he emphasizes that the pace of development is far outpacing the internet boom. He explains that the top advanced AI models are trained on 1 petabyte of data, and Dell has delivered 120,000 petabytes of data within the past two years. However, he cautions that "right now the models are pretty great, but it’s the worst they’ll ever be" as the technology continues to advance. Dell also notes that Dell Technologies has evolved beyond just manufacturing PCs, with the company’s server and networking segments growing 80% year-over-year. "We’re a very different company driven by data and the enormous wave of infrastructure that’s being built around AI today in the world," he told Yahoo Finance. Despite rumors of a slowing PC refresh cycle, Dell remains optimistic, stating that he believes the demand for updated PCs and software will continue to drive growth for the company. Additionally, Dell emphasizes that Dell Technologies does not use customers’ personal data, as they have implemented measures to ensure data protection. "The technology [AI] doesn’t wake up in the morning and say ‘I wanna be good or be bad’ – it does whatever we tell it to do," Dell states.
