With President Biden dropping from the race, Vice President Kamala Harris is seen as the frontrunner to be the Democratic nominee. It brings up questions about what her policies and stances will be on everything from crime to the economy. If she does win the nomination, she’s going to face a tough race with former President Donald Trump, who was polling ahead of Biden leading up to his decision. Does she have a better chance against Trump?
AGF Investments Chief US Policy Strategist Greg Valliere joins Morning Brief to give insight into Kamala Harris’ chance to win against Trump and what it could do to the broader market.
"I think she needs to probably show that she’s more of a centrist. I’m not sure she’s quite there yet, but I think she’ll be able to do that. But there will be a lot of issues the markets will have to follow, including taxation. You know, I thought a week or two ago with a Trump landslide, we’d get some big tax cuts. I think that scenario now is less likely."
