China’s Chang’e 6 lunar probe recently returned from the far side of the moon with rock samples. As competition for space resources heats up, questions about regulation and international cooperation are particularly salient.
Space Foundation space commerce and entrepreneurship vice president Kelli Kedis Ogborn joins Catalysts for Yahoo Finance’s Space Week to give insight into the space industry and potential regulations.
Kedis argues that because the way countries engage with the moon has changed since the days of the Apollo program, coordination efforts between countries must be made: "I think we should really look at the means of engagement. And one of the best records that we have for that is the current Artemis Accords, which has 43 signatories as of this month, which really lays out a common set of principles for peaceful engagement in outer space and really the role of international partnerships in achieving a sustainable presence on the moon."
