Bloomberg Daybreak Europe is your essential morning viewing to stay ahead. Live from London, we set the agenda for your day, catching you up with overnight markets news from the US and Asia. And we’ll tell you what matters for investors in Europe, giving you insight before trading begins.
On today’s show, Bloomberg looks at the Middle East conflict and how the US war effort is showing unexpected signs of strain against an adversary whose military budget is smaller than the GDP of Vermont – but which has an arsenal of missiles and drones unlike anything the US has ever faced.
Oil prices held below $90 a barrel despite a Wall Street Journal report that the IEA proposed the largest crude reserve release in its history. It rebounded from lows after the White House acknowledged that a post from Energy Secretary Chris Wright was wrong in claiming an oil tanker had been escorted by the US Navy through the Strait of Hormuz.
And Oracle shares rallied in extended trading after the company posted strong results and gave an outlook that suggested there is little letup in demand for AI computing. In terms of the AI race between Washington and Beijing, Chinese authorities have moved to restrict state-run enterprises and government agencies from running OpenClaw AI apps on office computers, acting swiftly to defuse potential security risks after companies and consumers across China began experimenting with the agentic AI phenomenon.
Today’s guest: Michelle Wiese Bockmann, Windward, Senior Maritime Intelligence Analyst.
