Meta Platforms Inc. has agreed to deploy “millions” of Nvidia Corp. processors over the next few years, tightening an already close relationship between two of the biggest companies in the artificial intelligence industry.
Meta, which accounts for about 9% of Nvidia’s revenue, is committing to use more AI processors and networking equipment from the supplier, according to a statement Tuesday. For the first time, it also plans to rely on Nvidia’s Grace central processing units, or CPUs, at the heart of standalone computers. Uber Technologies Inc. is planning to spend more than $100 million to build fast-charging, autonomous-vehicle charging stations in the US, the latest move to establish itself as a critical player in the robotaxi industry.
The company said in a statement on Wednesday that it will focus on building the new high-capacity charging hubs starting in the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles and Dallas — markets where it also plans to launch public robotaxi services with technology partners to compete with Alphabet Inc.’s Waymo. The amount will cover site development costs, equipment, grid connection and associated capital expenditure for developing the charging infrastructure, a spokesperson said.
