Allies of UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer sought to ward off a feared leadership challenge from Health Secretary Wes Streeting, according to people familiar with the matter. Starmer’s supporters privately accused Streeting of plotting to replace the premier as cabinet feuds spilled into the open just weeks before the government is due to unveil a contentious budget. A spokesperson for Streeting described the claims that the minister was after Starmer’s job as “categorically untrue.” Bloomberg’s Lizzy Burden reports.
