“It appears to us this morning that our long national nightmare is finally coming to an end,” House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said. Johnson explained the details of a deal in the Senate with centrist Democrats to potentially end the longest US government shutdown. Johnson said Monday he would give House lawmakers 36 hours’ notice to return to the Capitol once the Senate passes the bill.
