China’s announcement that it is evaluating the possibility of trade talks with the US has likely been endorsed at the highest levels of leadership, according to Professor John Gong from Beijing’s University of International Business and Economics. The recent statement from China’s Commerce Ministry marks the first indication of a possible thaw in relations since Donald Trump increased tariffs last month.
