While President Trump’s "blanket approach" to widespread tariffs disrupts US trade relationships, has the supply chain for major semiconductor manufacturers reshaped and adjusted accordingly?
"En masse, it has not," Moor Insights & Strategy founder, CEO, and chief analyst Patrick Moorhead tells Market Domination co-hosts Julie Hyman and Josh Lipton. The Trump administration is set to push through its 10% tariff against China on Tuesday, March 4, along with its proposed 25% import tax on all goods from Mexico and Canada.
Moorhead explains the ways in which chipmakers’ have set up domestic production facilities in the US, describing a "learning curve" companies had to go through when moving their supply chains away from China.
"India is growing to be the next potential China, and you see a lot of companies diversifying their supply chains. But nobody is unhooked from China," Moorhead states.
