You’ve probably noticed egg prices are up around the US. Now they’re over $7 a dozen. Restaurants are now feeling the pinch. Waffle House is now charging customers an extra 50 cents per egg. Other restaurants are leveling similar charges. The shortage is caused by the spread of bird flu, which has killed millions of chickens and led to a 21% decrease in egg production, resulting in record-breaking prices.
