President Donald Trump said the US should take control of the devastated Gaza Strip, shunt the area’s residents to other countries and turn it into a “Riviera,” a proposal that drew sharp opposition from Palestinian and other Arab officials. “The US will take over the Gaza Strip,” Trump said Tuesday during a White House news conference alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “We’ll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site.” Nissan is pulling out of its deal with Honda to combine both brands and regain global competitiveness, the Nikkei newspaper reported Wednesday. The Japanese carmakers had been negotiating the terms of a tie-up under which Honda would offer Nissan a lifeline by absorbing its struggling rival, and bring the two brands under a single holding company in 2026.
