President Joe Biden said he had directed the Department of Defense to deploy assets to help contain the California wildfires, including US Navy helicopters from San Diego, and said more resources were on the way.
“We’re prepared for anything and everything as long as it takes,” the president said.
President Biden, joined by Governor Gavin Newsom and Senator Alex Padilla, received a briefing on the firefighting efforts during a stop in Santa Monica.
