This deal brings the Big 12 into the spotlight and moves some streaming games to linear TV. “I think it’s a huge win for the Big 12,” says Dellenger. “I think they’re hoping to get… some involvement… with Inside the NBA as well, especially during their basketball season, the Big 12 basketball season coinciding with the NBA basketball season.” The conversation also touches on the "complicated" and "murky" issues surrounding revenue-sharing in collegiate programs. This marks a potential shift from the current NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) structure, which allows students to earn money from endorsements and commercial opportunities—typically paid out through program boosters. “The idea is to move the money coming from boosters under the school umbrella operation and let them pay, share revenue that they get from TV and ticket sales and sponsorships to athletes,” adds Dellenger.
