It was a rough end of the trading week for markets (^DJI,^GSPC, ^IXIC), as weak jobs data for the month of July caused markets to sink. Essex Investment Management Co-CEO and Senior Portfolio Manager Nancy Prial joins Yahoo Finance to discuss recession risk and the economy’s impact on small caps.
"We really don’t see the framework for a deep recession coming," Prial explains, we "think it’s likely that we’re going to see more rolling recessions like we’ve seen over the last couple of years."
Prial adds that "a slowing, but still positive economy is good for small caps. Lower interest rates are very good for small caps… inflation coming down is very good news for small caps, and we’re seeing all of those factors at work."
