Vice President Kamala Harris has gained momentum in the polls since announcing her candidacy, but based on some of those same polls, the race remains tight, with swing states still up for grabs.
Democratic Colorado Governor Jared Polis sat down with Yahoo Finance Senior Columnist Rick Newman and Washington Correspondent Ben Werschkul to discuss Vice President Harris’s campaign and how she needs to frame it to garner support from all types of voters.
When asked about her prior stances as a candidate back in 2020, Polis states: "I think what’s important is what they’re running on today. Kamala Harris is a strong pro-growth agenda. She’s going to succeed in building bridges with technology and the business community that Joe Biden had trouble with. She’s a forward-looking, innovative candidate. She hails from the state of California. As close to a lot of folks in Silicon Valley, really supports the innovation economy. "
In terms of what she needs to show to voters, Polis brought it back to "People really want somebody that’s authentic and that’s something that when you’re talking about Donald Trump, he has, in my opinion, a very, negative, narcissistic personality, but he is authentic to who he is. He doesn’t try to hide his narcissism. He wears it on his sleeve. So Kamala Harris is not narcissistic. She is a winning personality. She has a lot of fun and hobbies. And I know that as she shows those, it will help humanize her."
On whether or not he could be a possible vice presidential pick, Polis demurs, pointing out that there are some "great folks" that she could pick.
