A state senate race in California is still being counted over 1 month after voters hit the polls.
Central Valley’s 16th State Senate District is still being counted after Republican candidate David Shepherd requested a recount.
Initial voting results declared Democrat incumbent Melissa Hurtado the winner by just 20 votes.
Shepherd requested the recount immediately after Auditor-Controller County Clerk Mary B. Bedard’s office found 10 uncounted ballots in Kern County.

We are careening directly into an abyss of war, pain and misery, and our leaders are thunderously applauding as it happens.  Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy came to Washington this week because he wanted more money, and our politicians in Washington definitely did not disappoint him.  Even though we had already given Ukraine far more money than the rest of the world combined, our politicians agreed to give him another colossal mountain of cash.  On some level, we all have to respect Zelenskyy’s skills as a con man.

Hours after the SDNY unsealed the guilty pleas of former Alameda Research CEO, Caroline Ellison, and former Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of FTX, Gary Wang on Thursday, Sam Bankman-Fried, former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the now-defunct cryptocurrency exchange, FTX, was released conditionally from U.S. federal custody on Thursday on a personal recognizance bond in the form of a lien signed by his parents against their home in Palo Alto, California.

Greed is definitely a large element of the human condition, especially where money is concerned and one we all struggle with in more ways than one. However, some are affected by their material desires more than most like the gentleman in this particular story.
But unfortunately, our material wealth can’t come with us when we die, so it’s better to use our finances for good while we’re still around. One man, however, didn’t understand this concept.

On Thursday, United Nations Ambassador Sergiy Kyslytsya shared an American flag with Ukrainian colors suggesting the countries would continue their alliance “as long as it takes.”
The post follows Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Wednesday appearance in Washington D.C. with President Joe Biden. During Zelenskyy’s address to Congress, the Ukrainian President gave Vice President Kamala Harris and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi a Ukrainian flag signed by soldiers. Photos of Harris and Pelosi holding the flag as Zelenskyy spoke went viral shortly after.

Only 11 Republicans in the Senate voted against the massive bipartisan aid package being sent to Ukraine. Led by Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, opposition to the $40 billion bill meant that the senators were opposing both Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. No Democrats voted against the bill, which has President Biden’s approval and will now be sent to his desk for signing.
Most Republicans and Democrats united on Ukraine aid
With the latest package, the United States will have devoted $54 billion to the Ukrainian government.

A 22-year-old college student who describes himself as the “Pro-Life Spiderman” was arrested after free climbing to the top of the tallest building in San Francisco, (and arguably California) Salesforce Tower. Maison DesChamps says that he climbed the tower to raise awareness and money for the pro-life cause. Surprised onlookers watched the climb from outside and inside the building as DesChamps occasionally paused to post videos on social media.

Deep diving reporters at the Washington Examiner went spelunking into the BLM financial records. They were shocked to learn that “for months” nobody “appears to have been in charge.” They gave the IRS a bogus address on tax forms and “the charity’s two board members won’t say who controls its $60 million bankroll.”
BLM millions floating in limbo
As “multiple charity experts” warn, this lack of Black Lives Matter™ transparency is shocking. The murky state of their “finances and operations raises major legal and ethical red flags.
